How long does it take for your Pre-Candidate questionnaire to be reviewed, and for you to be deemed a competitive candidate? What should I say in my email reaching out to my ALO?

My pre-candidate questionnaire went through relatively quick, I think a week or so. I told my ALO a little bit about myself and that I was ready to do whatever it takes to get an appointment to the Academy. Good luck!!

Before you reach out to your ALO, wait until USAFA responds.

Not everyone that completes a PCQ will be deemed competitive. Thus, reaching out to the ALO at this point has no bearing since they are not officially notified that you are on their list. Give advice, but that is about it.

It is Oct., most MoCs are starting to close their files for 2023 nominations, if they have not already. IMO, and no offense to the ALOs, I would make submitting my nom. package as the top priority. You need the nom to get an appointment. If you have missed that nom date you are facing an uphill battle for an appointment. Something that an ALO really can't assist you with due to the process.

I have to ask, and I am not trying to be rude or invasive, but why do you want to talk to the ALO before deemed competitive by USAFA?

@Pima was correct regarding the MOC nominations. My DS MOC's have closed their open window for nominations at this point. Please look on those websites in your area regarding deadlines. The packets are not a 10 min online process.....it takes time and if you are this late in the game.....it may possibly be overwhelming!!! Have you seen yet if you are competitive? I hope that you are competitive if not.....I would say work on some things that will help you get there. I'd also suggest making sure you read, read, read so that you understand the process and deadlines. A little off topic but I hope helpful, Good luck!!!

+10 to Pima here: "It is Oct., most MoCs are starting to close their files for 2023 nominations, if they have not already. We ALO's have our plates filling up quite heavily right now; the last thing we need to worry about is an "unknown rider" popping up that's not even in the process. I know that sounds harsh but use me as an example; as of today I've completed two evaluations of kids in TX and I have 34 more kids that I am mentoring here in AZ. Oh yeah, and I teach HS JROTC! I'd much prefer the prospective candidate get their process complete with the MOC; without a nomination, you're completely out of the game. Once that's going, then please contact me! I'm here and ready to help in any way I can!!

And honestly...yes, I'm going to say it; if you run into a snag with your MOC stuff...get in touch with me...I can probably help.

Pima, I had my DD emailing her ALO when she was in 10th grade. Why? Because the Admissions website and videos mention, often, that it is important to get to know the ALO. The lack of response was unnerving then. Now I understand why the ALO was MIA and I think USAFA should reevaluate the importance their admission website places on contact with the ALO. To the OP, do what Fencersmother said. Then proceed without the ALO.
