I received a call from the Academy today. I had a brief conversation with an admissions rep. It mostly consisted of the rep asking if I had any questions and also giving me advice on how to handle the different interviews and such. He also told me that it is good that I am as far as I am in my app process and that my credentials look good. Is this type of call typical, or does it mean that I am a highly competitive applicant? Does the Academy call every candidate? I have a habit of reading into things too much but just thought I would ask incase it does mean something good for me.

I know another 2020 candidate who received a similar call today. Last year DS (now a plebe) did not receive a call from Admissions. It can't be bad, though!

I think it is just a call. Probably the person who handles your region is starting to look at the list and see who has completed large parts of their applications. I think it's neither good or bad.

^^ Agree. I know in some prior years, mids who recently graduated and were in the queue for their next assignment spent time in the admissions office contacting some of those applying. Not sure if that is being done this year, but could explain the call you got.
