I tried to do a search and didn't come up with much, so I'm turning to you all. DD recently received an email from her Admissions Counselor that he'll be in the area and has set aside some time to meet with applicants and their families for 30 minutes each. We were surprised by this. Any insight on what this meeting might look like or how for DD to prepare? She has checked off all her boxes for the application.

Take advantage of it. It’s outreach and engagement by Admissions. DD can prepare with thoughtful questions - those not easily found by research on USNA.edu. Be prepared similar to BGO interview, ready to articulate the “why” of her motivation to apply and her understanding of this path to a commission. It’s an opportunity to positively reinforce USNA’s impression of her in an informal way.

DS had the opportunity to do this, unfortunately, it reverted to a virtual meeting due to covid, but he appreciated it nonetheless. He had a copy of his resume and basically just went over it with his Admissions Counselor to make sure his application accurately reflected what was on his resume. The CIS review button leaves a lot to be desired and this calmed some concerns that something may have been dropped or missed.

After that, they spoke a bit about career paths and opportunities. From a parent's perspective, he seemed pretty uplifted, motivated, and enthusiastic after the meeting.

Great opportunity for candidates and Admissions to put face to a name. This is candidates time to make a solid case for him/her self.
