Any insight from previous applicants that can help out a newbie?(applying for class of 2024) What sort of things did you have to write about for your applications? Is there any advice you have to focus on while preparing for an application?

Be able to verbalize why you want to serve. Obviously you shouldn't say "I want a free education" or "My parents want me to." In your essays you have the opportunity to express your character and your drive and what sets you apart from other applicants. Similar to any interview you will have, you cant give cliche or canned answers to the prompt, admissions can smell those from a mile away. Show what you can contribute to the Coast Guard and your country.

Best of luck.
