Admissions Event Dress Code

Would ASU's be appropriate for enlisted applicants? Or maybe ACU's?

I don't really have appropriate "normal" clothes, ie. raggedy / baggy jeans with streetware shirts with a lot of color. In a sense, I feel like my normal clothes would set me apart even more than a simple uniform :frown:

This might be a good time for some inexpensive adult casual clothes.

Let's just say, I remember the names of candidates who dressed neatly for these events and truthfully can say those who showed up in sports uniforms, etc., well, first thing that came to my mind is that the Academy event was NOT high on their list of priorities.
Candidates, this is going to be a very competitive year for all the service academies. You never get a 2nd chance to make a 1st impression and you never know if that guy you've just walked up to is your AAP, BGO, etc.
You don't have to break the bank on an outfit, a nice pair of khaki trousers, a polo shirt and a pair of casual shoes or clean sneakers will do fine!

While I'm sure you can do better, you can get a nice looking polo at wal-mart for $5, and a pair of lee khaki's for under $20.

Don't ask me how I know this!

If someone was truly active duty enlisted and otherwise would normally be wearing a AD uniform my gut sense is you would not be penalized for wearing it by the field force and congressional staffers that I've met. Can't really comment on admissions staff.

Ok, candidates...as we say in the Army, that is NOT the approved solution.

Dress like you recognize that your future is the subject at hand.

For those ragging on the JROTC uniforms, I think this is the key. For some kids, it is truly the nicest set of clothing they have.

If they are wearing it to impress someone with their fruit salad, then , of course, it is idiotic.

Flyboy, you are missing the point. There is a wealth of experience on this forum and NOBODY familiar with the appointment process is recommending that candidates wear a JROTC uniform for any reason to a SA event. But since this is America and not North Korea, a candidate can wear whatever they want.
