Admissions: fact?

Several weeks ago I had dinner with a West Point Grad c/o 58. During our conversation we were talking about admissions to WP. He mention that he graduated with a MOH winners son that automatically received an appointment that I already knew, but what I didn't know is that a MOH winners DD/DS doesn't have to serve the 5 years. Any thoughts I just like knowing obscure knowledge.

I believe that is incorrect. 600-8-22 is the regulation for awards, and lists the entitlements grants to MOH recipients. It does state that children of recipients are automatically appointed if qualified, but does not say anything about a change in service obligation.
