I’m starting my 3 week training for NAPS on Tuesday, and if I’m being honest, I’m very nervous.
I’ve heard different stories about NAPS, how hard and grueling it can be (like any bootcamp). I’ve also heard about kids dropping the program after the first PT session.
The last thing I want to do is quit, but I’m scared that my mind will change once I am there.
I’m not the best at PT, so I know I will struggle some.
Can anyone spare some advice? Thank you :)

Just don’t quit. There will be plenty who struggle at certain aspects of Indoc. There will be some priors who make indoc look easy. There will be some who make the PT look easy. Everyone will eventually find their weakness. Just give 100% and don’t let quitting even enter your mind. You can make it or you would not have selected. Good luck.

I can only tell you from recent second hand parent kind of observation. And thanks goodness for that.

it’s not just the PT. It’s the shock.

I have one. A tough really tough sob. A sports type as well. They loved the first few days. Thought it was great. A few days later they are calling home—-“I am leaving” : :)

And then filled out DOR papers

oh it was a tough slog. now they graduated. And are at the USNA.

1/3 will quit naps or at least gone by graduation,. Starting with the first day., even before the first PT, and continuing on.

The single most important thing to stick to——-they can throw me out I will not quit. And then refuse to quit. And you will do well.

Everyone of mine that went thru naps hated it.

my first one who is a USNA grad with several grad degrees , hated it, but now says that naps was the single most important year of any college or HS year they had.

don’t worry about it just be prepared. And remember——-it’s all theater. Its a game and you have a part to,play. And no one ever died from being yelled at.

Good Luck

And what else I will say about naos

Every single adult there, the teachers, the company officers, the coaches if you have one

They all without a doubt want you to stay and graduate. And they will do everything in their power to help make that happen.

Some students will leave or be kicked out because of studies. Get the extra help show you are trying and the teachers will do what it takes to get you through.

Don't drink. Most of the restrictions, and those restrictions can be long and happen while you should be on home with family on leave , mostly have their roots in people drinking. someone will no doubt bring a bottle on campus after a Liberty. And almost always they will be caught.

Resist the urge.

Don’t quit and arrive in shape. It’s a blast. And when you’re struggling the most, think about how much your visiting family is enjoying lobster rolls for the first time..!

NAPS will prepare you so well for plebe summer!!!
