Hi everyone!

I am set to attend the AEP on March 30th. I am only able to fly out there, but my parents might both be unable to make the trip down with me. I can definitely pay the extra price to fly out to the nearest airport (New London or New Haven, etc.), but my mom is really concerned about transportation from the airport to the academy. I suggested Uber or a taxi, but my mom is unwilling to let me go on those by myself. Are there any other forms of public transportation I could take? I would absolutely be willing to walk to a bus stop or something from CGA after the program. Thank you very much for the help!

My DS is a 2/c. The closest airport with regular commercial flights is PVD (Providence). An Uber to academy is usually about $50. DS does this often and sometimes shares. Never any issues.

My DS is a 3/c. He usually flies in/out of PVD or Boston Logan so he can take Amtrak to New London. From the Amtrak station in downtown New London to CGA, Uber is about $6-8. The Amtrak stations near PVD and Boston Logan are easily accessible from the airport.

Have you made your reservations yet? I am attending with my daughter on the 30th as well, flying into Boston on the 29th arriving at 3:05 pm and out of Hartford on the 30th at 4 pm and renting a car. If I can help in any way, please let me know.

My DS just did his this week. He loved the experience, and will be accepting his full appointment on Monday. We where told by his coach to fly into Providence. He flew without us, because of conflicts. But his coach actually picked him up from the airport and took him back. Our coach recommended we set our departure flight for around 3pm on that friday, he also was instructed to fly in a day early around the same 3pm time....hope this helps!

Thank you, everyone! I have talked to my parents and I will catch a bus or taxi over to the Academy. I really appreciate all of your help and suggestions.

Can you tell us a little about his experience at AEP?

Can you tell us a little about his experience at AEP?
He had two different hosts one from his sports team and one from another. He said both were great. He felt welcome and was able to interact with freshmen and upper classmen. He was exposed to several activities, he met with professors. He found this very helpful. He came home more excited about attending CGA, than I have ever seen him. He basically said his experience was amazing, except for the cots that he said date back to WWII. He has no doubt that CGA is not only where he wants to be, it's where he is supposed to be. He would recommend taking advantage of this invited visit if u have not already registered.

We got back yesterday also. DS loved his visit. As parents we got a lot of info and I fell so much more comfortable. They explained how hey really take care of them and what to expect. DS loved staying with one of the team members from his sport but also talked to so many other cadets. The hour with the instructor from mechanical engineering was great and made him really excited to get going.
