So I had a Methacholine challenge test on Wednesday and just finished a PFT today. The Methacholine test was negative with only a change of -7% on the final dose and the PFT showed a best of 72% FVC/FEV1 ratio before albuterol (in a previous test it showed me hitting 74% before albuterol) and 76% after. All other numbers are super-normal.

I know I am still under the 75% threshold before the albuterol but does anyone know if a negative Methacholine test can get me a medical waiver for asthma for the Air Force Academy. Thanks.

It sure can. I was in the same situation about a year ago. Passed the challenge test and got my waiver. Just finished my doolie year here at USAFA.

Congrats on finishing year and thanks for the information. It’s good to hear but trying not to count my chickens before they’ve hatched. Thanks again.

Joshua - Not realy approriate to use your real name and provide your medical results on a public Forum.... Your case is different from Midwesternman. So, until your results are received by DoDMERB, where DoDMERB will post to USAFA for their reconsideration, any discussions here are meaningless. :wiggle:
