Curious if anyone has done the AFA Spring tours. We are currently signed up for the February 2 Escorted Tour with Airmanship Focus. Our DS is a high school Junior. I didn't see any dates for Fall tours, so I'm guessing these tours are for Juniors, since most appointments will be sent out before many of the scheduled tours happen...the website isn't very clear on this. Could anyone give clarity? Also, if we have the morning of our tour available, what would be some highlights around the city? AFA world is new to us....we have CC in his Cow year at West Point.

My DS and I went on an escorted tour when he was a sophomore and had a wonderful experience. In addition to the official tour, we spent extra time exploring there - visited with a cadet friend, had lunch at Arnold Hall, shopped and watched the movie at the Visitor Center, and attended the football game. Stay well hydrated (altitude) and wear comfortable shoes.

The morning of our tour we drove through Garden of the Gods. Absolutely stunning.

Enjoy your visit and let us know how it went!

Yah AFA Tour is great. I love the campus. Guided tours are even better. I even saw my High School Alumnus at the Arnold Hall of Fame. He’s the Academy’s first graduate and the first Astronaut and the first to fly the Space Shuttle. His name is Colonel Karol J. Bobko. Was a pleasant rare experience seeing one of your high school Alma Mater who’s in the hall of fame at the Academy.

Have fun with the tour and ask a lot of questions. The Lts and/or cadets leading the tour are very knowledgeable (I lead some of them from time to time) if you have any question about Usafa they can answer it or get someone to answer it who know more. And if your standing out by the chapel after your tour and have more questions, don’t hesitate to ask a Cadet. Most of us head to Arnold hall for dinner or a snack after school.
Hope you enjoy the place. It’s great to be from Usafa, but hard to go through it. Def has its ups and downs, but I don’t regret my decision to come here, even with 122 days left till graduation.
