It is utterly disgraceful that we are not doing more to help the Afghani’s who assisted our troops and are now facing imminent threat of arrest, torture and death. Give them visas and fly them out now!!! This makes me sick to my stomach.

How about bringing them here and giving them jobs teaching at language schools to teach some of our troops some middle eastern language skills.

It goes with the plan to leave in the middle of the night and a couple days early without a kiss goodbye.

The Onion wrote about this a decade ago. Their prediction came to pass.

These days, I read news stories and just assume they are from The Onion or Duffleblog, then I see a name at the top like CNN or AP News.

I agree with getting them out asap but differ on the language school bit. Their languages - Pashto and Dari are not of great use beyond
Afghanistan. Dari is close to Farsi but if we want people to now Farsi then teach them Farsi, not Dari.

There are a lot of Pashtun people in Pakistan who speak Pashto as their first language too.

Ain't that the truth.

We have brought many Afghan and Iraqi translators (and their families) to US on Special Immigrant visas since the program began in 2007. My comment is not meant to support or defend the current situation in Afghanistan. I only provide information for context. You can see the numbers in this Confessional Research Service report. Special Immigrant Visa Statistics begin on page 13.

I heard on Fox News Tucker Carlson's show that those translators are, you know, Moslem and, even worse, they ain't white. So, there's that.

Not now. Give it a rest.

Just saying. There's a pretty large number of Americans who don't want to see any Afghans getting off of planes on US soil. Some of them are pretty prominent. Like the guy I just mentioned. They're spending hours upon hours of airtime, on the Internet, on the radio, in newsprint, on the floor of Congress, etc. warning us that these Afghans who aided the US-NATO war effort are just waiting to detonate a suicide vest in an American church or something.

The rest of the world sees this.
