Afghanistan in the rear view mirror...

Yes I did. The date they "left them with" was May 1st, but they couldn't come up with a plan from May 1st to when they pulled everyone out by the revised date of August 31st? That's 122 days.

I think that Secretary of State Blinken thinks that most Americans are stupid. If we buy these excuses, clearly he is right.
I'm pretty sure that the Administration was not handed a sealed envelope that said "Do not open until May 1st" so they were fully able to actually look at the plan from AT LEAST January 20th so make that more like 250 days or so.

And how long will our "former" allies believe in us and the US Umbrella. German FGS LUTGENS manning the rails as USS WINSTON S CHURCHILL leaves port after 9/11 so many years ago. EU now groping and reaching out for new alignments along with every Gulf Nation. US pulls Patriot Defense system out of Saudi after continuous drone and missile attacks from Yemen. Hey! They are not the best ally in the world but they are a stabilizing bulwark against Iran.

Remember their new announced date for withdrawal scrubbing May one under the new administration plan was September 11, 2021. On reflection that Photo Op didn't look so good so they backed off to August 31.

Everything is "Alleged". Like the CCP is afraid. Give me a break. They will have Bagram in three weeks if not sooner and their government will make it an operational Airfield for influence throughout central Asia. Central Asia is lost and Putin told the present Administration to Pound Sand for Air Bases in neighboring countries (supposedly. The Afghans don't like Russia for prior history but they probably will welcome China. Thirty Million $$$ in NGO aid today and more to come.

I was being kind. There is merit to the Gen Milley stories. All over the internet and twitter.

I was disgusted listening to Blinken this morning. He damn well likely knows about the aid worker's death, which was touted as an attack on a potential threat. But he lied, said it was an ongoing investigation. Said he didn't know. I highly doubt that.

I also struggle with the fact that he admitted the majority of 100k plus individuals were not vetted---at all. Yet he said US citizens were top priority. Why didn't anyone ask him about the planes on the tarmac that the State Department wouldn't authorize departure? And, this administration's continued blaming of the prior administration's plan is crazy. It wasn't carved in stone, it didn't have a 'don't open until Christmas' on it.

Also, him saying there was no way the existing 2500 soldiers couldn't have slowed the Taliban's run on the cities surprises me. Our air capabilities, eyes on the ground, and drone capabilities have slowed them for a long time. What changed in the capabilities of those 2500?

Still disgusted.

If they didn't know they are MORONS. If they did know they are LIARS. God save us from Bureaucrats running wars. Like Johnson picking targets in North Vietnam from the "War Room".

Many of the families including the working age men are illiterate in their native language. There is no way they were professionals working for a contractor like Mission Essential or an NGO.

How do they vet people with false birthdates?

Hey you can't just prosecute the civilian contingent as they are not subject to the UCMJ they will just leave and get a job as a lobbyist. Close Air Support! Close Air Support! Close Air Support! And no Arty! If you Withdraw all support and expect ground units to succeed while you withdraw that is a losing situation. I think the literacy rate is less than 50%.

China already has Pakistan.

Just when you think it can't circle the drain any more......DoD confirms the drone strike was in error, and 10(+?) civilians killed.....no ISIS-K casualties.

Oy...........
Gen. Milley, Sept. 1: "It was a righteous strike."
