Is there a waiver that allows you to re-test for the AFOQT a second time before the 180 day rule?

If there is I haven't heard of it. Why are you in a rush?

We were not allowed to test until 10 Nov 12. And i managed to fail verbal.. I did great on pilot and would be smooth sailing but had the verbal draw back. I am trying to re-test before the rated boards

Talk to your unit, they would be the best ones to give you any direction, if there is such a thing as a waiver, than they will be the ones to do the paperwork.

Out of curiosity, why did you take the AFOQT and not the TBAS for the rated board?

How did you do on the TBAS? I only ask because maybe if it was a really strong score your det. will be able to defend why the Verbal was a fluke, thus raising the chance of getting a waiver if they allow waivers.

Things can change regarding the scoring system, when our DS went through it 2 yrs ago, although he had taken the AFOQT, it was his TBAS that counted for rated, and had he not gotten a rated slot, his AFOQT score would be used for non-rated. They didn't award points/percentage to both, it was just one depending on the board requirements.

Check with the det. to see if they are using both scores for rated, or like our DS the TBAS will be the only score the rated board sees out of the two, AFOQT will be masked.
