Hi, right now I am a senior in high school, and unfortunately I wasn't chosen to receive either the nrotc or afrotc 4 year scholarship, but I still want to do one of them in college. At this point I am still on the fence about which branch to choose, they both appeal to me for different reasons, but both about equally. At this point I think my decision will be by the chance to receive a 3 year scholarship. I received an email from the local scholarship coordinator for nrotc saying that around 46% of candidates who reapply received a 3/2 year scholarship. Does anyone know roughly the chance of receiving a 3 year afrotc scholarships?

Contact the AFROTC det at the college you intend to matriculate come this fall. Nobody here can give you an answer.

At this point, your odds are 0%.

Join an AFROTC detachment, pick a degree the AF wants, excel for a semester or two, and then put your name in. Until that point, you have no chance.

If you have to receive a scholarship in order to participate in a particular ROTC program (which it sounds like that might be the determining factor in your Navy vs. Air Force debate), then your priorities are backwards. The ROTC program is in place to train future military officers-- not to fund college. So, if your internal motivation causes you fall more in the latter camp than the former, then go Navy. Your odds are apparently better.

Good luck.

Have you researched the jobs available to officers on the respective service's web site? That's how one should decide. Pick one that has a few jobs you would be interested in doing, because one doesn't always get their first choice.
