I was a 250 AFROTC Cadet preparing to go to field training however I was informed that I was DQ’d due to a gastrotestinal issue so was unable to go. The DQ is for 2 years and will expire this upcoming March. My question is if I am barred from all AFROTC activities and if not could I still be selected to go to field training next summer within my DQ expiring so late? Thanks

I don’t have an answer to your questions but was wondering what gastrointestinal issue DQ’d you? I have some issues myself

I would think that this is something you need to go up the chain to find out the answer. IOWS, are they working on a waiver for you right now? Have they started the disenrollment papers, or are they allowing you to become an AS500?

Something also to understand is that although that DoDMERB is only valid for 2 yrs., next yr you will have to do another one for SFT, hence, you maybe hit with another DQ. Sometimes the issue does qualify as a DQ even after 2 yrs., sometimes it becomes a non-issue because the requirement is no change after X amount of months without meds., which brings me back to the beginning of this post on how you need to work with your chain of command to find a better answer than an anonymous forum.

Good luck.

You have to be DODMERB qualified in order to go to Field Training. I assume that you would not be selected, as your current DODMERB is only good for two years and will be expired by March. You will have to go through the DODMERB process all over again. It will be a very tight window for you. If you need a waiver, then you would most likely not be selected as there wouldn't be enough time to qualify you. When was your DODMERB exam date?
How do you know that you are DQed for only 2 years? Did you read it somewhere or did someone tell you that? Maybe they meant that the DQ would expire when the DODMERB expires. If that is the case, you may be DQed all over again with the new DODMERB. Did you try to get a waiver when you were DQed? What is the exact DQ code that you got from DODMERB? I can be more accurate if I know the whole story.
