Sadly my cgpa will be 2.8 or 2.9 and I am a tech major. My pfa.avg is 89.9 but.I can retake so I will get a 90 or above. The only thing lagging me on my pfa really is my body comp. The cadre likes me, im involved in the det in AAS and colorguard.

I have read thousands of threads on this and I 've read cases where people with 2.2 GPA and 2.7 GPA have been selected for field training. I would like to just know do I have a chance?

Also, a POC told me if they didnt tell me to quit this semester that i.should.be good. And my cc ranking is probably in the.middle

A 2.9 tech is not out of reach. Listen to your POC. I don't know your college. 2.9 at Notre Dame might be common while 2.9 at Central Florida is uncommon. The caliber of the school is a player.

What I would be concerned with is your PFA. Maxwell in June, July or August isn't pretty regarding heat and humidity. If you are at 90 now and not doing it in 95 degrees with 85% humidity, running in that situation will make your lungs burn and slow you down.

Have you ever run in that type of climate? Trust me as you take every breath your body can feel the heat and the thickness of the air. It is a factor.

At SFT you will do PT, and it will be part of your score. That score as a 300 when up for AFSC will be part of the equation. It is DG, top 1, 5, 10, 20, 30, 50 and below 50.

I don't know exactly what you mean by body comp., but if it is a weight issue, it can impact you. DS was always taped because he was too thin. He was informed if he lost 3-5 lbs he was at risk. If you are on the opposite side, time to start training on top of PT.

Getting EA is step one, but more importantly as a POC, you need to understand that SFT ranking will impact your AFSC.

Honestly you really want at least a 95 for PFT from here on out.

This info is a couple of years old so is of limited value but at that time at Texas A&M the average gpa for technical major SFT selectees was 3.03. Obviously some gpa's were below 3.0 for the average to be what it was. TAMU is known for being an academic challenge so I would guess that is factored in as well.

Thank you for your feed back!.
My university is known to be a bit more rigorous than the host university I participate at for AFROTC. Im just really nervous that I will get the boot.

Pima,to answer your question. I can handle the workout in the heat. My run and pushup and situps are good but my waist measurement should be lower than what it is, but im in regs with my weight.

hey, me again!
I recently just retook my pfa and got a 95.6!
so now with that score and a 2.9 or 3.0 gpa (just found out i have to wait till my transcript from the summer come in from the other college to factor in my cgpa) could i stand a chance?

My nerves have been calmed a lot since I pulled a Type II scholarship in December (and my stats only improved since then). I'm confident, but not comfortable.

Here's to a high selection rate like last year. I really want to see all my buddies in the wing go with me.

yea good luck to us all, i think this year will have a good selection rate! packages are submitted this week so all we have to do now is just sit and wait

Good luck to you all.

Out of curiosity have any of your dets discussed what will happen, if anything when sequestration starts?

I know the Navy is saying summer cruises for USNA/NROTC mids are going to take the hit.

I asked my Commander about that... Although my question was more related to how it might affect the number of FT slots. He told me that over the next 4 years they will be accepting more Cadets into FT, but the bad news is that after those 4 years are over they will have to get rid of some of the surplus officers... It's all very confusing and it's a mess. Just focus on doing your best and showing professionalism and everything will work out in the end.

That's odd. Logic would seem to say the opposite -> cutting SFT slots
