Does anyone know why 200s this year got so many EAs? It seems like every Det got at least 90% of their cadets accepted for Field Training when last year the acceptance rate was around 40%. Why is this?

Also, has anyone heard what they expect the washout rate at Field Training is supposed to be?

A lot of people dropped out of AFROTC nationwide because of the lack of scholarships or other reasons.

It may not have happened at every Det but our PAS told us that a lot of Dets told their cadets that didn't have a likely chance of getting accepted to not compete.

The pool size was much smaller, nothing more and nothing less. They only took 100 more cadets, so even LY with a 55% national rate, if the size had remained the same, it would have only increased by a few % pts.

I talked to our DS about his det over spring break last week, and as others have stated it was multiple issues. His det was also hard on the cadets with medical issues, several were medically DQ'd, which would require a waiver. Waivers are rare now. Their det also told cadets at the end of fall semester how they were racking and stacking. Many saw the writing on the wall and dropped ROTC for spring semester.

I am sure are regretting knowing it is a 90%, but they forget had all of them stayed it would have been 55-60% like LY and they still would not have received a slot.
