When DS was completing his application, his AFROTC liaison informed him that a interview was unnecessary, as they would use the USAFA evaluation.

Can anyone tell me if this is standard practice? Could this hurt his chance of being awarded a scholarship?

DD had same thing occur and was awarded Type 1 and admitted to USAFA. No idea if it is standard practice but not necessarily something that should result in concern.

This was DD's situation

dddad, Class of 2024?

Same with our DS many moons ago. Our DS got a type 2 non-tech.

DS recently had his AFROTC interview that he was hoping would count for the USAFA interview. Unfortunately, they advised him it wouldn't. So I guess it doesn't go both ways.

Regardless, I'm sure the extra interview prep and experience will pay dividends he can't yet imagine. Interviews are difficult for adults, let alone teenagers just dipping their toe into the adult world.

@Nanosour no it does not go both ways, from what I have been told is that it only works if it is the USAFA interviewer that does the interview.
