AFROTC January board results

Yes. So far it's only the good and bad. There's no ugly "we'll reconvene" message for anyone yet.

Which is just something I don't understand. If there are two more boards and the final application dates have passed, then who else except for those they just interviewed are left? I can't think of a reason why they would award the remaining scholarships to those who got applications in later instead of rechecking a previous board's results in addition to the new ones.

Unless there are not going to be any more boards? Is it possible that they have used all of their scholarships and have no more to give?

While that would be a great example of government spending, it still seems pretty hard to believe they would do that two boards early. I've never heard of anything like that in the past, with any branch.

Edit: And then what about those people who still didn't go before a board at all?

Are there any? Didn't the AFROTC application process end on about Dec 1st? When was the deadline for the last of the application materials? I do NOT know whether they have awarded all the scholarships and that there won't be any more boards this year....I'm just trying to interpret what is going on with the little bit of information available. I cannot understand why there are no people with a "deferred" to the next board message.

Dec. 1
Last date for high school students to apply for the High School Scholarship Program. Note: Online application must be completed before forms.

Jan. 9
Final date to mail in all required paperwork (i.e., résumé, PFA, transcripts and etc.). Your envelope must be postmarked by this date.

Give time for mail to be received/processed, time for interview to be scheduled, time for materials from interview to be processed, and then the next board.

My interview was before the December board but my record met the January one.

I still think it is possible that all applicants were reviewed by this board.

Certainly possible, especially since I don't think anyone would wait until the last possible day, but I'd like to think there's another chance.

To anyone reading this who did not get a scholarship, I think it's fair to say don't get your hopes up, but at the very least call or email them to be specific about future boards.

Edit: For now I'm going to stop posting unless someone asks a direct question. I don't want to keep posting if it doesn't help anyone.

My son had his interview on Jan. 15th so I wasn't sure if he would go before this board or not. I couldn't stand not knowing so I contacted Maxwell this afternoon. The reply said: "We closed the 2nd board early. So XXXXXX rolled over to the next board which meets on 22-26 Feb. the expected release date is 12 March."

This makes me really nervous about my son's chances since they have already told some excellent candidates they did not receive a scholarship. :frown:

The good news is that it doesn't look as though he will be competing with many other candidates.

We found out today that my son received a type 2 scholarship. Obviously we are thrilled and from reading these posts, he is fortunate.

This has been an emotional roller coaster waiting to hear and contemplating alternatives. Our hearts go out to the ones who did not receive the same result and opportunity. To those in that position I can just say you WILL find your path and there have been some excellent posts with ideas of where to start.

FYI, my son's friend is still waiting to have his interview so they are not done yet. Good luck everyone!

I am just worried because I did not recieve a message that said you will be on the next board. I felt like I had a very solid application. 3.97/ 4 gpa, top 10% of class, great interview, 28 act, plenty of leadership/volunteer activities, and a solid pft.

I sent an e-mail to the person that was my son's contact at Cadet command the end of last week to make sure they had all his information and to make sure he wasn't missing anything and she just sent an e-mail yesterday telling us he was reviewed in the Oct. board and that his file is still going up at the boards and that the last board will meet in April. I was just worried that since we haven't heard anything I wanted to make sure he has been reviewed. I guess the only thing those of us still waiting for an answer for a AROTC scholarship is to just hope they get picked by the April board meet. I also wonder after watching the posts on this sight if it also depends on the Colleges you put down and how many have put in for a AROTC scholarship at that College as to where you might stand of getting a scholarship at that College and if they have picked any for that College yet.

OOPS!!!!! Sorry I posted this on the wrong forum. Just ignore me.
