AFROTC Max Swap

She has no idea what my experrience with the air force is. The OP asked a question about whether something was possible. Pima responded with a lecture on how cadets need to "get used to it" and how their reason s for switching are "bull****". Doesnt sound like a calm, reasonable answer to me.

OK, I'll bite.

Pima has always been very upfront on her experiences with a military life. What are yours?

And while you may not agree with her sentiment, or the way she posted it, her argument is sound: You join the services to SERVE, and quite frankly your needs sometimes have to come second (OK, almost ALL the time). Just a warning on her part to get used to it.

Was that calm and reasonable enough for your taste?

And to get back to the OP's original question: it doesn't hurt to ask.

But don't make a habit of it. That WILL hurt your career....

Yes. Eloquent and to the point.

Glad it meets your approval.

Still debating whether I need to "lecture" you on this other gem you posted:

Unless you are an AF vet, you have just as much knowledge as me on the "needs of the air force" and AD life.

Something along the lines of.... "Do you reeeeaaaallly want to go there?"

She told me I had no experience with AFROTC. Am I not allowed to make asinine assumptions as well?

OK, so I'll ask again. Exactly what is that "experience"?

And I'll see your "experience" in AFROTC, and raise you her 20+ years of having Uncle Sam dictate her life.

And try to grow up a little and drop the rude language and insults.

Sir, I am a military child whose father is a career Air Force officer. In addition, I have numerous friends and classmates who are in AFROTC. I am positive I don't have as much exposure to the AF as her, as I am sure most people here know. However, I would point out that she was the one using foul language, I belive that was her. Something about a cousins marriage being bull****. But if you feel the need to clean up after her rants, by all means continue to do so. I would like to disengage myself from this thread, as most everybody feels this has gone on long enough.

Then you should know better.

Copy. No PERSONAL AFROTC experience on your part. Glad we have that settled.

Again, glad we got that settled.

No, she used the term "BS". A little risque, but the actual use of curse words on this thread starts and ends with you.

But if you feel the need to clean up after her rants, by all means continue to do so.

She perfectly capable of taking care of herself, as she has demonstrated for over 20+ years. There's no need for any "clean-up" of any rant here. She stated an opinion, based on her experience. You thought it was a little long perhaps. Granted. But you got rude about it.

And watching someone be rude to my wife???? I WILL step in on that one, young man. HARD.

I would like to disengage myself from this thread, as most everybody feels this has gone on long enough.

Smart move on your part, young man.

My work is done here, I'll do the same.....

Haha, wow, I turn my back for one second...

Alright, lets clear up a few qualms:

1. I was told that if I could find a cadet from any det in the nation who was willing to switch, so long as it was another male, that it could be done.

2. Switches like that have been happening.

3. The reason I was asking is that I'm getting LASIK immediately after field training. I would've just preferred doing it sooner so in case there were any complications afterwards, I would have more time to deal with them.

a. Regardless of when I get LASIK I can still compete for a pilot slot.

b. I finally decided to just go with Max 4 since other than this, there are no significant issues.

Last, I filled out the paperwork requesting as early a Max as possible to get LASIK and so I wouldn't have to miss my brother's wedding on August 1st. While 1, 2, or 3 would have been better in terms of LASIK, I still get back from 4 with enough time to get the procedure done, go to the wedding, and get ready to come back as a POC.

It was just a question guys, nothing to overanalyze :thumb:

Edit: And if it helps any, when I talked with my APAS about switching, I told him to take care of all other cadets who had priority issues first. If a slot happened to come up for me than that'd be awesome, but otherwise I was fine with Max 4.

Double check on LASIK compared to PRK. Eyes change, this is why the AFA will not pay for cadets surgery until they are the equivalent of a rising C300 AFROTC cadet.

DS was on the cusp, begged for us to pay the 5K out of pocket for the surgery as a 100 and 200. We told him eyes are not something to mess with, but would if it was the factor.

The time window is short... I get that!

His friend at his unit had it done by a doc that Tiger Woods and Vijay Singh, but because they did not heal fast enough he was the only one in his class to get CSO.

DS didn't have it done because he had Maxwell 6...timing. Yet, like his AFA counterparts his eyes changed. He has a UPT slot and no surgery.

Don't assume that your eyes are the same since you had your yrly medical exam even 6 months ago.

JMPO, but I would investigate deeper regarding the what ifs in your scenario from ROTC participation, to DoDMERB clearance. You will need that clearance for UPT.
