Hello all,

I was just wondering what y'alls assigned EAD dates are for pilot selects this year?

I am Feb of '16, hoping it gets moved up, but I hear that is doubtful!

Thanks!

I doubt it will move up, even USAFA grads can wait 6+ months prior to their start date for IFS. It is simply that the pipeline can't push them through any faster than at their current rate. This has been the case for several years now. Our DS commissioned May 2012. He went casual status in Sept. and started IFS in Feb. His UPT class started April 1, 2013 and many in his class were USAFA grads. I know several of the 14 grads just started their UPT course just last month. I believe Kevster reported to Del Rio only back in Jan.

One of my sons traded his early August start date with another USAFA grad for a schedule similar to PIMA's son.

Not unusual at all for late start times. This son was able to finish up a project he'd started during his firstie year, and skied - a lot - until he was off to Hell, oops, I mean Del, Rio.

For clarification, all of my DSs classmates (11 went to UPT). Not one started UPT prior to March. They did casual status for @6 months.

Bullets (my DH) boss has a son at Hell Rio right not. His DS was a 14 grad. He is 16-09. Stealth's DS commissioned USAFA in 11. He started UPT in Feb or Mar 2012.

This is why I believe chances are going to be slim to move up the date, since this has been going on for years now since Whiting shut down. It might even be longer now because they opened up the amount of slots for OCS. For a while getting UPT via this route was insanely competitive, due to the low number awarded.

Just me, but if you have 6-9 months to wait, get a job and live at home. Bank every penny you can.

The reason why is due to the fact that you are not going to get on the payroll until you arrive at the base. It took 4 weeks before DSs pay was on track. Meanwhile, he had to pay to travel to Laughlin. Pay for the hotel/lodging. Pay for his Q on base (privatized), buy linens, food, deposit for cable, etc. He had a couple thousand to outlay.
~~ DS is cheap, cheap, cheap....think of everything (except the TV he purchased) was from Target and WalMart and all of it was bare mins. No blenders, pictures, nothing that you would call extravagant. If it had crossed his cranium I am sure he would have taken extra salt and pepper packets from KFC instead of buying it from the commissary! He still paid about 800 just to set up his apt. Towels, pots, pans, food, and personal hygiene products...toilet paper is not cheap, nor a case of Gatorade. He kvetched to me when he said his 1st commissary bill was @200. I said to him what did you think garbage bags cost? His response was not 3 bucks for 15 bags. Followed on with do you know how much a dozen eggs cost? Yes DS, I know full well the cost, and I am guessing you didn't buy bacon!

I think his cable bill was @200. Add in the TV, the 3 day travel to Laughlin, the 5 days in the hotel until he could move into his Q and he was over 2K.
~~~ Again it was a month he had to wait to get it all back, and because the Qs were privatized he had to pay for it before his pay, AND he also had a car pmt., insurance and cell phone to pay for at the same time. This does not include, having even the smallest of a social life. Thus, by the time money was finally being dumped into his checking account he was out @4-5K.
You will get it back, but AF pay is paid in arrears. IOWs, if you show up on the 8th of the month, you probably missed the 15th pay date. That means the 1st is your 1st paydate. You need to be able to live until the 1st.
