AFROTC Rated Board 2015

Has anyone heard anything in regards to the rated board coming out in the next few weeks?

Late, early, more slots, less slots?

Cadre showed us a chart that said 390 pilot slots for this year, I can't recall the other numbers but I remember the RPA number was surprisingly low. Rated results are expected to come out February 13th, but who knows if it'll get pushed back.

That would be interesting to see. By chance do you happen to know the RPA number? I know last year it was about 80 slots given.

That's real surprising because there was a rumor going around that RPA numbers were going to increase exponentially for this Rated Board.
Don't quote me on this, but I want to say it was around 50.

Does anybody know how many cadets went to FT on an EA rated slot? I am trying to compare that number to the claimed 390/50 numbers. What are the CSO and ABM slots looking like? I am anxiously awaiting my fate on this board.

You and I both, Natehanibal. One thing to note though.

461 pilot slots were given to SFT FY 15 class which had 2200 EA slots awarded
and if the 390 pilot slots statistic is true (1590 slots awarded for the SFT FY 16).
All I can find out is that 60% of those that went for the Rated EA got it. That would be a good number to know (how many total Rated EAs were given)

I'm curious as to where you're getting the 60% from? I.e. (# of slots received)/(total # applied)
At least we know the board already met this past thurs/fri!

Talking about the Rated EAs that were given out last year for the current AS300s. The national average was roughly 60%.

That doesn't mean all of those who were picked up on different EA boards won't also try and compete. We have a ton of engineers going up.

People tend to forget that many engineering majors are on a 5 year course, thus as Ahab stated they would be in a different EA year group than the 4 year program.

The reason I stated that seems like a low number is due to the amount of students that UPT bases can pass through in a year. Between Columbus, Vance and Laughlin they can wing @1000 pilots, ENJJPT wings about 160. That makes a total just shy of 1200. USAFA usually has about 55% of their class go rated or 500-600.
~ Basically for USAFA if you want rated you will get it. Many don't want rated due to the commitment owed.
~~ Nobody quote me on the 55%, it is just what I recall reading.
~~ Nobody quote me on the 1000 either. It is just what I know the Wing King stated at DSs graduation. I know another Mom that her DS winged at another base and they had the same class size. DSs friend winged from Columbus and their class size was the same too. Also mathematically it makes sense....they can push 14 classes through a year....multiply on avg 25 you equal 1k

Now if you add those two numbers let's say 390 + 560 there are about 250 slots left available for OCS. That is a lot.

Additionally, statistically 20-25% will wash out of IFS. From there 20-25% will wash out of UPT. If they can wing 1200 a year, than using a low number of 20% busting IFS and 20% later bust out of UPT, the number to meet the 1200 winging would be closer to 1750 needed for rated. Basically even if USAFA handed out to every cadet graduating (assume 900) and 400 to AFROTC that means 450 would have to come from OCS boards.
~~ I don't know how many apply for OCS, they have 2 boards a year. It just would seem to me that would be an insanely high number.
~~~ DSs UPT class had 2 OCS grads, both prior Es. His class started with 28, hence @10% of the class. His schoolhouse for 130s had about the same ratio.
I believe for my DSs year group a total of 800+ out of 2300 commissioned got rated. That being said, it is important to remember the number includes CSO, RPA and ABM. DSs unit alone had 13 out of 26 go rated. 11 went pilot, 1 RPA and 1 CSO. His year group had a 93% selection rate for rated. His unit had 100% rate.
Did you find out what you got??
I have not, but I have friends from Field Training who just found out. I believe my Cadre wants to wait until PT or LLAB to announce the results; not something I'm happy about.
My DS just texted me the Rated results at his Det. 6 pilots, 1 RPA, and 1 ABM. Only one cadet that applied for a rated slot did not get one.
Hopefully it will be like years past 90%+ selected. Good luck to all.
I got an RPA slot. I am beyond excited for what the future has in store for me! My det's rated results were as follows: 2 RPA, 1 CSO, 1 ABM, 1 did not get one.
I have been more of a lurker on this forum for a few years now and wanted to thank everyone who post on here regularly. This forum has helped me through the many ups and downs along the eventful AFROTC road so far. Now I have to make it to commissioning!
Just got the results. Not sure the numbers, but out of 9 going up most got pilot, at least 1 CSO, 1 RPA, but I and another were not picked up for anything unfortunately.
Congrats to all those that got what they were hoping for. It looks like a lot of RPAs and ABMs dropped compared to years prior.
~ I do recall a few years back a they offered ABM scholarships, soi guess that shouldn't be a shocker. Than again, maybe this wasn't the ABM year group, but the year they offered CSO scholarships.
Best wishes, hopes and thoughts that those not selected will get their dream nonrated slot next fall when that board meets.
Congrats to everyone who got slots. If the information is available, would anyone mind posting the average stats of people who got slots vs those who didn't? Some of us still have a few days until we hear, but getting a general feel for selection would help.
Judging from the posts of people I went to FT with, it seems like there was a larger percentage of people who didn't get rated slots at all than in previous years.
My son was told he was an alternate for a pilot slot. Can anyone offer an explanation or details? Does this mean he will have an opportunity if someone DQ's for some reason? Is there still hope for a rated spot ?
Thank you.
Just received my pilot slot! We had 4/5 go rated -- 3 Pilot/1 RPA. Congrats to everyone else. & emphasis on what Pima said for non-rated come Fall.
As far as the #'s go -- cadre said they'll get the #'s of applied/received within the next few days as stuff gets disseminated down from HQ...
