AFROTC Rated Board 2015

Now that the Rated positions have been announced, does anyone know when the dream sheet goes in for the Non Rated positions?

Will all rated non-selects be able to put in for non-rated jobs along with the non-rated non-tech cadets, or will they have to try to have their rated EA transferred into a non-rated EA in order to do so?

I'm not sure what is being asked. I'm just a messenger.

Another thought is, how will the alternates be alternates, for people who get removed from the program, if they are given the boot?

Just wondering if any of the 300's on the forum have heard any news on when the Form 53 goes in for the Non Rated Board? My DS said that he hasn't heard anything about it this semester.

The form 53 starts at the commander's discretion. I believe the board is in September/October. That is all I was told.

Meaning you start the form when the commander gives the go ahead. Our 400's didn't start it til the end of August.

Thanks guys for the info, my DS did say he thought that it might be next semester before they submit their Form 53 (AFSC choices). For some reason I thought it was submitted during the Spring Semester of their 300 year, guess I was wrong.

Has anyone heard yet when the next rated board will be held, or if any rated selects were medically DQed this summer?

I don't know if they still do it the same, but I would be shocked if anyone has lost their slot yet. I know when my DS went to WPAFB the last physical was a once over with the flight surgeon. The flight surgeon verbally gave him the all clear, but it took 6 weeks for him to get the official letter. It was sometime mid-Aug.
~ I don't know if all cadets were given the verbal all clear like my DS. DS was an AF brat, and believe it or not the flight surgeon flew with his Dad in the 15Es before PCSing to WPAFB. Thus, he knew our DS for years as his doctor, and was the doc that gave him his DoDMERB physical back in HS.

If they are DQd, usually just like the ROTC scholarship, they typically than go through the waiver process through HQ AF medical review. I know 2 posters here that their DSs were DQ'd, but the final no waiver came through around Thanksgiving.
~ I can't swear by it, but I believe those 2 cadets were allowed to compete for the non-rated board in Sept., for a just in case no waiver occurred. Thus, when they got the no waiver notification they already had their new AFSC.

Pima is right. Flight Doc told me things that may require a waiver but for anyone that needed a waiver they would mention it to them. The official results takes six weeks from the flight physical so expect people to know whether or not they were DQed at the end of summer.

Not everyone will be having their flight physicals this summer. The majority may, yes. But my son isn't scheduled to go for his until next spring.

Thanks alpha for your post. It is good to know as a poster that it is still the same.

usaffan,
I would take it as right now nobody has the official DQ and will not until sometime mid-late August.
~ Remember a DQ will probably start the waiver process. Anybody with a DQ may not find out their end result for many more months.

becksgirl,
Is your DS Pilot selected? I know 2 people that went later. Neither were pilot, both were rated. One was CSO and went over Winter school break. The other was RPA and went over spring break.

I would think if your child is Pilot going 6-9 weeks prior to commissioning could throw a huge wrench into the system if he fails the FAA FC1. My main reason for saying that is by 6-9 weeks out from commissioning cadets with a pilot slot have their UPT base and Report No Later Date in hand. DS knew he was going casual at 1st at his UPT base, but knew his IFT date and UPT class start date in March. (He went casual in Sept. IFT in Feb. and UPT start April)
~ Only saying be prepared that they can have a long wait to start rated schools.

I have my physical at the end of August. My NCOIC told me this was the earliest slot he could get for me.

One cadet at my det just dropped along with an RPA slot. So hopefully that goes to someone who really wants it.

Won't really matter if you go later to your FC1, if you fail you would have failed anyway. Most people are not reporting to their base from ROTC till Oct or later anyway. They are trying to limit casual status for ROTC.

Not following Zero. Please explain. If a cadet that is a 400 goes for their FC1 in March, doesn't that impact the UPT class?

IOWS they are holding a slot for that 400.

Trust me I get the casual status aspect after commissioning, but still...I am not following your point of view.
~ As a 400 in Feb/Mar orders start flying for UPT assignments.

If the cadet with a UPT slot is to commission in May, but doesn't have their FC1 physical until late Mar/early April, how do they cut orders?

I am no being rude, I am trying to understand.

In essence, what I am reading from your post would directly impact the supplemental board in the fall of the 400 year since becksgirls child had yet to go. How can Big Blue assume anything for UPT if they don't have a strong number?

Think about it becksgirl goes to WPAFB 6-9 weeks prior to commissioning. What happens if they are DQ (class of 16 UPT 17-0?) They now have to rejig.

Just trying to understand.

OBTW, I know 2 that commissioned in 14 as AFROTC grads. They didn't go casual until January. They started UPT in the 16-07/08 class.
~ April 2015 was when they started UPT.

DS commissioned May 2012. His class at UPT was 14-08. He went to what is now IFT (was IFS) Feb. 2013. Started UPT. 4/1/13. Winged 4/23/14....the 8th class in FY 2014.

kevster is 1 of those that commissioned May 2014. He reported to Hel l Rio in Jan. 2015. Started UPT in April 2015.
