AFROTC Scholarship 2018 - Results - January

it only gets worse when waiting for boards because the stakes are higher.

I am discovering this... We have a year of respite until SFT next year, and the rated/non-rated is moot because of DS eyesight.
And remember everyone, there is a third board - DS found out about his scholarship at the beginning of April last year.

Deep breaths, and get use to the military saying...HURRY UP and WAIT!

There have been years that they were 2 weeks after the on or about date. Not saying this is the case, but I am saying as hard as this part is, it only gets worse when waiting for boards because the stakes are higher.
~ SFT aka LEAD
~ Rated/Non-Rated
~ Base assignments/EAD

Good luck to all.

I served in the Army many years ago so I definitely appreciate the saying “hurry up and wait”! I think it was easier to deal with back then because I was living in the moment. But now, as a parent, it’s different. You worry about your kids, and for most of their childhood you’re able to somewhat control the circumstances they’re in. But as they grow into adulthood, the more hands off you have to be and you’re there more for support. Especially if they’re in the military.
I had to go through that with my oldest, who enlisted in the Army 3 years ago and is coming up on his 2nd deployment overseas later this year. Now my youngest has decided to go the officer route through AFROTC.
So far through this process, I’ve found Service Academy Forum to be incredibly helpful. People like Pima, who have a wealth of knowledge and experience in this process, have been invaluable. As well as helping my son, it’s helped me in my role of advisor, researcher and cheerleader.

I didn’t consider the Air Force until very recently, so I’m just conducting my interview this afternoon. Any tips for the interview? I typically interview well.

Also, how do the boards work for AFROTC? How many looks will I receive/how many boards are left?

The interview is not too hard (at least mine wasn't). They won't try to trip you up or anything; mostly they'll just brief you on what AFROTC is like and then ask you questions about your extracurricular activities, leadership experience, etc. They really just want to get a feel for your personality (i.e. "Do I want this kid as part of this or another detachment for 4 years?").

There are 2 more boards remaining, in early and late March. You'll be going up for those since the latest one is already underway/done.

Good luck!

Thank you!

Thanks for the update! This forum is the only place where I can get information... :) Good luck everyone!

By any chance, did any of the other applicants besides afrotc2022 receive the same email? I didn't get anything with regards to a delay.

My portal page still says “on or around Jan 31” and I have not received an email

Same here. I wonder if afrotc2022 opened the email yesterday or if it was some type of automated email sent on the weekend? Guess it doesn't matter, the waiting is just nerve racking. I want to email the hssp tech, but also am trying to show patience...
