In the fall of 2002 I was an AS 100 cadet with an academic (Engineering) scholarship. After the first month after arriving to my detachment (Det. 800) I had passed my fitness exam and was ready to activate my scholarship, this is were my issues began. I was informed that a few pieces of my medical information was missing and I had to wait until that information was in my file.

A few weeks before Thanksgiving my commander came to me and said that my scholarship package was complete an I was ready to activate my scholarship contract. With it being so close to the end of the semester my cadre were going to wait to put my scholarship in use for the spring semester.

Unfortunately, I gpa went below the required gpa requirement and I was not able to use my scholarship for either semester. The issue that I would myself in was other cadets in my AS 100 class that had their academic scholarship activated and went below the gpa requirement were dis-enrolled and received their Honorable Discharge certificate. I did not receive my certificate but the Air Force ROTC office shows to this day that my scholarship was activate at the end of my first semester.

I have been putting together my records from my one year in ROTC and wanted to document that I actually met the requirements needed for such certificate. I am trying to find out if this status certificate (Honorable Discharge) for ROTC cadets that the other cadets received could be requested? If so what are the channels that need to be navigated to put this process in place? All I am trying to do is accumulate my personal files for proof of documentation to go along with my letter of acceptance for scholarship that I currently have?

You get honorable discharge from ROTC?? What?? All I know is you got dis-enrolled for not meeting GPA requirement. I don't think that merits an "honorable discharge" since you never really served.

It sounds funny but I saw a few Honorable Discharge certs from AS 100 cadets. It was explained to me of why the discharge paperwork occurred when we signed a contract agreement for the scholarship and did not meet the agreement and could be dis-enrolled. If I had not seen the certificates I would agree with you on how this could really happen.

Was there a typo in your post? What you stated was that this occurred almost 13 years ago (2002).

That is correct, you read it correctly. I basically wrote the whole thing off after my freshman year when I decided not to pursue a military career. I recently found all of my scholarship package and paperwork of intent. These documents got me thinking of my classmates that received their certificate and why they would get one and why I didn't .
