My AFJROTC SASI told me that because I will be in JROTC for 3 years by the time I graduate, I will be awarded an AFJROTC Certificate of Completion. This apparently validates two semesters of AS in ROTC. If I receive a 4-yr AFROTC scholarship, will I still be allowed to validate the two semesters of AFROTC or do I have to take it?

To contract with a 4 yr., than yes, you have to be in the unit. You have to pass the PFT to contract. Do you have attend classes, I can't answer that specifically. However....

I can't see why you would not want to take the 2 semesters for soooo many reasons.
Let's be real, LLAB and PT are a few hrs a week as a freshmen. It really is not sweat off your back, except getting up for PT at O dark thirty.
1. What are you illustrating to the unit if this is allowable?
~ I am better bc I did JROTC? I don't want to learn it the way ADAF trains via ROTC ...in other words you are saying JROTC is on par with AFROTC, a commissioning source for the ADAF?
~~ You may not want to read this, but sometimes JROTC cadets show up and get labeled "that guy/gal" They think that bc they were a JROTC Cadet Commander they know it all, thus they become that guy/gal. Fastest way to make a negative impression is to be that guy/gal.
2. The cadre is not going to give you a leadership position the 1st semester because they don't know you. Those low level leadership positions will go to sophomores that were active in the unit their freshmen yr. They will than parlay them into higher positions for them to get ready for SFT.
~ Not showing up. you might as well be an AS 250 (sophomore walk on).
~~ You will not have a job in the det., or most likely not a job with leadership like your 200 peers bc the cadre doesn't know you besides showing up to take the PT exam each semester.
3. Camraderie
~ Have you visited any AFROTC unit? Most have cadet lounges. DS lived on campus, but bc the unit was closer to the student union than his dorm he would get lunch and eat it in the lounge while he hung out with other cadets between his classes. Their lounge had a foosball table, an Xbox, play station, large screen tv, sofas, etc. He would hang and shoot the breeze with other cadets while playing Mario Kart or Call to Duty.
~ Their det also would do what they call a GMC night every Weds. Basically, the freshmen and sophomores (GMCs) would go to the det @ 6:30 every Weds. One of the PMS would be there too. The det., would pay for pizza or subs to be brought into the det lounge. This allowed them to connect/talk about school, classes, struggles, etc. In essence, they bonded as peers.
~~ To this date, my DS is close friends with cadets out of his unit. He is the only one that winged out of UPT at Del Rio from his yr group, but while he was there bc he did that GMC night both yrs. there was a guy that commissioned a yr earlier and went to Del Rio, so he had a friend when he arrived. There was a guy that commissioned a yr later and our DS took him under his wing at Del Rio.
~ DS's university offered 4 military fraternities... Silver Wings, Honor Guard, Arnie Air and Angel Flight. Attending LLAB and PT you will find out the differences between these organizations. Not attending, well you won't!

I am not trying to negate what you have done in JROTC, but JROTC is not ROTC in college. JROTC in HS is an elective class. ROTC in college is an additional course for college credits. STEM major you take 18 credits, plus ROTC than you are at 19 credit hrs. Carry a 2.0 in HS and you are still in JROTC. Carry that in AFROTC and you are being sat down to be told, even as a non-contracted cadet, SFT is not going to happen and HQ AFROTC will probably start disenrollment paperwork. ROTC in college and you miss too many PTs or LLABs the CoC can initiate dis-enrollment.

Hope that helps.

No. HQ will not approve you to skip or receive credit for two semesters of AFROTC. It will only be considered if you are joining in as a sophomore and/or case by case due to circumstances (unavoidable class conflicts.)

Thank you so much for your explanation! I totally understand where you are coming from.
