GPA UW: 3.73

Class Rank: top 8% suburban Connecticut school

SAT: 1350 CR: 710 Math: 640

Extracurriculars (Not a whole lot): Junior Engineering Club in the 1st half of junior year, around 20 volunteer hours freshman year, part time job (4 hours per day) summer 2016 - present.

PFA: Pushups 41, Situps 38, 1.5 mile 13:06

The interview was a few days ago, it went well but I did not have a whole lot other than school to talk about.

I know type 1 and type 2 are pretty much out the window due to my lack of activities out-side of school, but where do I stand for a type 7?

Girl or Guy? Reason why is I am looking at those PFA scores. Even as a girl, I believe you are very close to the max for the run. I won't swear by it, but I believe it is 13:30 max.
~ PFA is part of your WCS.

As far as your other stats. Is your SAT best sitting or superscored. Best sitting and that is very strong, along with your cgpa.

However, too much was left out even if someone would chance you.
~ What is your intended major - tech or non-tech
~Top 8% sounds great along with the cgpa....but not so much when 0% go Ivy and only 25% go 4 yr Public (the board will see your school profile). ~3.73 is strong, but how many APs as a junior? (Senior yr does not factor in the equation). Is your course curriculum compared to peers seen as the most rigorous that your school offers. See above regarding school profile. If you only have 4 and others took 8 than it may not be considered the most rigorous.

Remember that it does not matter what state you are from for the scholarship. The scholarship is national. IOWS, HQ AFROTC is not like an SA where they divvy it up around the country. AFROTC does not care if 100% of the scholarships are awarded to students from only 5 states or all 50. It is going to go to the top candidates.

Best of luck.
Aim High. Above All

EDIT: Male, Major: Electrical Engineering, AP Classes: 1, but I have around 8 or so honors classes, GPA was best sitting, Average School SAT is around 1010 and 86% go on to 2 or 4 year colleges.

Deep breaths before you read this...okay, ready?

I am pretty sure you failed the PFA. Run wise for a male you are off .
~ I don't recall what the limit is, maybe nonducor or sled can tell you, but 13 mins for 1 1/2 miles in my recollection is below the mins. Hence why I asked if you were a girl or guy.
~~ Again they can tell you exactly, but I know for my DS he always tried to stay under a 7 min mile, even now ADAF he has to take a PFT, and he runs constantly prior to the test so he at 7 min. You are hanging around an 8 1/2 min mile.
~ Push ups and sit ups are also low, even if the form is perfect.

This is important to understand for three reasons.
1. You CANNOT contract as a scholarship cadet unless you pass the PFA. Fail one portion and you failed the entire test.
2. Some large dets can have 100 AS 100s (freshmen). You do not want to make your 1st impression as the cadet they keep screaming at during the 1st run to pick up the pace.
~ There will be a pacer in the back motivating you to push it harder.
3. Let's assume you get the scholarship. AFROTC scholarships are 2+2. You are guaranteed for the 1st 2 yrs, but if not selected for Summer Field Training as a soph (AS200) they can disenroll you from AFROTC. Part of the scoring is your PFA. Most cadets avg around 95+.

Again, it is not a biggie right now, but if I were you, I would be running everyday regardless of weather. You need to get that mile down to @ 7 mins to feel comfy. I would do the PFA in order of the exam, because your push ups and sit ups are low too impo.

FWIW you can google the PFA/CFA and they will tell you the max scores.

Failing that one portion means you need to make it up in other areas. It is doable. You are going EE, your SAT is strong, your cgpa is strong, your school appears to be competitive. PAR (prior academic record) is from my recollection 60% of the WCS, so you can do it for a type 7.
~ JUST remember you don't want to be THAT GUY in August or September when you arrive at the det and fail the PFT because of your run.

The minimum PFA for a male under 30 is:
  • 42 crunches, 33 push-ups, 1.5 mile in 13:36
One would think the AFROTC standards would be similar.

Just as an indicator, my DS got a Type 7 and he ran a 9:02. His SAT is a 1360, GPA is a 3.6 unweighted. I think push-ups were around 50 and sit-ups were around 65.

@5Day those reqs apply to AFROTC as well. 13:36 is the 1.5mi standard, as are the push ups and sit-ups.
