DS is a sophomore in H.S. He told me for the first time last weekend that he is considering Air Force in addition to Navy. Does the Air Force have any requirements as to college major like the Navy? (That is, the Navy gives something like 85% of scholarships to STEM majors, and they have Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 majors.) I did not see anything about majors on the USAF ROTC site that discusses scholarships.

Yes, very much has desired majors. Though just like Navy there are exceptions/ nice stories of people getting scholarships with majors not on their desired / tier lists. All majors can apply and there are a percent annually that go to non-desired majors for great candidates. I'll take the liberty of trusting that the US Air force site is considered trusted/ verified. https://www.afrotc.com/scholarships/desired-majors/

AFROTC is going to give priority to what they call technical majors which are similar to NROTC's Tier 1 and 2 majors. I don't know the percentages but it is going to be large like Navy's is. I would never suggest someone pick their major based on their chances for a scholarship with that major. One should pick a major based on their passions and talents.

If things have not changed, AFROTC awards about 80-85% of all scholarships to tech majors.

Don't select a major in order to increase your odds of winning a scholarship. Huge mistake.

Better to go with what you're passionate about and focus on your leadership skills, organizational experience, and knowledge of & evidence of motivation regarding the AF officer path.

These will help you to ace the interview, which has a greater impact on your chance of getting a scholarship than your choice of major.
