AFROTC Scholarship Upgrade Question

Has anyone experienced/heard of a Type 2/7 scholarship winner being bumped to a Type 1 by the detchament after freshman year?

I have not heard of this. In College Scholarships are only type 1 in the case of the Commander’s In College Scholarship for tech majors. I have never heard of this being awarded to current scholarship holders.

There are a few Type 1s for All Majors - some have posted here about winning those scholarships. I hadn't heard of an upgrade in sophomore year, but I know the detachments give out new scholarships sophomore year to freshmen who were'nt on scholarship, so I was curious if Type 2/7 would sometimes get an upgrade to Type 1.

There are non-tech type 1s for the High School Scholarship program. Once you get to college, you’d fall under the ICSP, not HSSP.

My understanding is that the Air Force does not bump up existing active type 2 or type 7 AFROTC scholarships to Type 1 awards once the award level is adjudicated. 16 of the top schools treated any type award like a type 1 (see prior posts) in some some recent years. I think they should reward top performers but overall AFROTC updates about scholarship changes mostly are not good news this year.

The only positive thing is that they have added a heap load of new desired majors!

You have to be a tech major and be recommended for the Commander’s scholarship.

A non-tech major could be elevated to a Type 2 with the Commander’s scholarship.
