I was medically disqualified during my service academy applications for two conditions that were misdiagnosed and they do not impact my performance in any way. I am excited to say that I recently received an AFROTC scholarship but today my status changed to "Waiver Denied" even though I submitted second opinions and test results showing that I do not have these conditions. It seems like there was no review of this information during the waiver process.
I live in the Rocky Mountains at an elevation of 7500 ft. My pediatrician diagnosed me with asthma and atopic dermatitis, so he could prescribe additional medications in our dry, high altitude environment. He does this for every single patient in his practice. In fact, I have all of the unused inhalers and creams that he prescribed in their original packaging.
When I got a second opinion from another doctor, they said that I did not have any skin conditions or breathing problems. I have 4 years of spirometry reports that prove that my lung capacity is well above average.
It has been my lifelong dream to serve our country in the Air Force and I was so excited when I learned that I was about to have that chance. I realize that this was not a DoDMERB decision, but is there anything I can do to fix this problem?
Thank you in advance for any suggestions you may have.
