My DS has not received any email yet, but the Wings portal shows his acceptance. The reason he checked was because he received a DoDMERB email indicating a new message (which was AFROTC pulling his DoDMERB status). He then checked his Wings portal which changed from "Application is Eligible" to "Application Status is Offered". The portal had been showing that he was reviewed at the end of Feburary and to expect results on or before 3/17 but they appear to have posted early.

Is anyone familiar with the process in accepting? It appears that unlike the AROTC scholarship, you cannot accept until you also supply a letter of acceptance from a university. Is that correct?

D got this too in her portal but no information on what type of scholarship or for which schools.

Can the letter of acceptance be from any university with an AFROTC program or it needs to be one of the ones selected in the application? If it can be any school, what is the reason to select schools in the application?

If you go to the accept/decline tile, then read the linked pdf on the next page, esp Sec 3.1., it clarifies what to do.

Congrats to all. Our 2nd go round. First wanted AF, got AR, doing great, 3rd yr. This one got AF.

DD's portal also updated with "Application Status is Offered" = 4 year Type 1. Very exciting day, but she's still holding out hope for a USAFA appointment too.

Congrats all. My son got his offer as well. I think there were only 500 total available this year. They can attend any school they get accepted to with an AFROTC detachment. Download the PDF and read it front to back. Answers a whole lot of questions.

DS in the same place. He got the 4 year AFROTC on Tuesday like the others above, but is patiently waiting on USAFA and USNA. The local office told him they were holding the NROTC as they think he's so strong he'll get the Academy appointment, so everything is up in the air with NROTC. On another note, he received an email from a college on his list that had rejected him and now wants him since he got the scholarship. We have his High School counselor involved now as it seems we should notify the other schools he's waiting to hear from as it may help with admissions. Balancing act is tough... I don't have log ins so I have to wait for my DS to tell me what's going on.

Have to be honest, I'm a bit uneasy about one aspect of the AFROTC. That is the apparently non-zero chance of getting cut after 2 years due to lack of available slots going forward. Even if you're not in trouble etc. Anyone else concerned about this? Or know if 4yr scholarship recipients have any advantage in that regard. And perhaps most importantly, do they have any liability (ie repayment obligations) in such cases?

The scholarship is only guaranteed for the first 2 years. After that, you have to earn the remaining 2 years.

It would help future applicants to know which school this is. People regularly post here asking about this, so hard information is welcome.
