AFROTC Stipend

Can you rent your books? DS did that for 7 of his 8 semesters and pocketed a ton of money.

I usually find textbooks online as PDFs or buy second hand from upperclassmen who have taken the class previously. I haven't used my textbook stipend to buy a textbook since sophomore year

My kids never purchased books, UNLESS they could not find them on Chegg or AmazonPrime (rentals).

JMPO, but there is no reason to BUY a new textbook. My youngest was a bio-chem major carrying 18-21 credits per month, all math/science which is typically the high end for book costs. I don't think we ever went over 200 for a semester using Chegg or Amazon. It is super easy. You order the books, within 24-48 hrs they were at the door/mailbox. Yes you can highlight them like if you purchased. End of semester you download the return label and send the books back free of cost at your local UPS store
~ We always kept the box they sent them in for ease of shipping back.
~~ In our area Chegg is so big that the local UPS stores have a CHEGG banner by their door entrance.

Might be just me, but I wonder how long the college book store will last selling books. Personally, I think they will be there just for that freshmen experience.

Same, for all my kiddos through college. Its so nice honestly to not have to keep them. DH graduated ummmmm 30-ish years ago, and still has some books he cannot bear to part with.

Can Academies also use these services? Rent vs buy?? I know this is ROTC forum, but maybe someone knows that is visiting.
