AFROTC Subsidy List

I know for a fact that NROTC has a subsidy list. That is, some schools will offer benefits to scholarship (and sometimes non-scholarship) cadets. I figured AFROTC should have one, but I can't seem to find it. The one link I found on SAF is broken. Does anyone have a working link to the AFROTC subsidy list (if it even exists anymore)?

Google AFROTC College Locator and plug in the college you're interested in, then on the next screen, click "More Information" and you'll see if there is any supplemental money for AFROTC cadets. I'm guessing this is the info you're looking for when you mention a "subsidy list." Two schools that offer additional money to AFROTC cadets are Boston U (they top off partial scholarships and offer board) and U of Portland (they top off and offer room and board).

Thanks, I didn't know that that information was there. It is in a very hidden location...

If you use the R&B thread here make sure you double check that the school still offers it. The very beginning of that thread it has a huge list that is done alphabetically, but it is very old. The list is a compilation, so some will be for all ROTC cadets regardless of the branch, some are branch specific.

The only thing I would highly stress is that if you need the subsidy and the AFROTC to afford to attend that school, you might want to re-think your plan, especially for AFROTC.
1. You might love the school, but hate AFROTC. Do you stay in ROTC so you can pay for college? Remember it is not just bearing through ROTC for 4 yrs, but you will have to serve 4 yrs + ADAF too upon commissioning. I say + because your time does not start until you report AD. It can take 6-9 mos from commissioning to reporting.
~ This is why they have that 1st yr (freshmen) no repayment if you want out option.
2. You love ROTC, but hate the school. Now what? Do you stay bc your dream school does not offer any subsidy or do you go in debt and transfer?
~ This would also mean there is a high likelihood you will transfer to a new det. See above.
3. Love both, but your scholarship is tied to your tech major, which you hate. You can request to switch to a non-tech major, but there is a slim chance that HQ AFROTC will approve it. Thus, that means to stay in AFROTC and change your major, you will lose your scholarship. Again, how do you pay for that loss of money?
~ This happens more often than you may think. Look around this forum, every yr there are at least 2 or 3 posters saying...love ROTC, love the school, but hate my major, and academically I am struggling, what now?
4. AFROTC requires all cadets to attend Summer Field Training in the summer of their rising junior yr. in order to commission. You need to be a POC for at least 3 semesters to commission. No SFT = No commissioning. No SFT will most likely equate into disenrollment from AFROTC. Now, you are a rising junior and can't afford to attend without taking large loans.
~ It is a national board just like the scholarship. The thing is the board has no clue which cadet is on scholarship and which cadet is not. It is what the ADAF calls "masked". The board could not care less if 1 det has 100% selection and another has 25%. They go by Order of Merit and how many they need to attend to meet their goal for the commissioning class 2 yrs from that point.

Just saying, I have been here long enough that I have seen all of those things occur each and every yr. Not 1 of these HS students when starting the process thought they would be 1 of those posters a yr or two later, but here they are yr after yr posing those questions. Here we are, the old posters reminding them...think before you leap if it is a financial need.
