Can someone give me some info on the application process to AFA from afrotc college? Is it the same as applying from high school?

As far as I understand it is exactly the same, you still have to get the nomination, but you can compete for a ROTC nomination

But once again, i'm still a prospective canidate or whatever

It is very similar. First off, call the admissions office and let them know you are reapplying so that they will keep your old file. You'll be allowed to submit 3 more letters of recommendation. Nomination process is the same except that you can also apply for a nom through your AFROTC commander. I did a year of AFROTC before coming to USAFA, so let me know if you have any specific questions.

Hopeful2015cadet. Fl12. I received mine on 10/25/10

Unfortunately I had to undergo surgery that Wednesday to repair an inguinal hernia and will be medically disqualified for 6 months, but can be given a waiver after 6-8 weeks, so we will see how this affects chance of appointment into the academy for sure:frown:

Wish me luck

I think you have the wrong topic....

I'm currently in AFROTC and my question is will I be frowned upon by my commander for leaving ROTC for USAFA? And if they ask why I'm leaving I don't know what to say without offending them. The real reasons I want to leave are many such as no more commuting, military life, higher likelihood to be pilot and so on.

Assuming I get a nomination from my commander will that mean I don't need the congressional nomination?

I've currently had one quarter in college and my GPA was a 2.76 what GPA should I be aiming for. I know a4.0 is obviously preferred but where is the line drawn? 3.0? 3.4?

Will being in AFROTC increase my chances of getting in?

Since you were in AFROTC for a year wouldn't that be equivalent to having done a year at USAFA? So by the time you started USAFA you were technically already one year (ahead/advanced/prepared) than the rest?

Oh and a side question, when you entered the academy, were most of your classmates one year younger? If so was it a problem? Awkward it anything? Or is it a frequent occurrence to have classmates younger/older then you by more then a year?
