AFROTC Type 1 !!!

Congratulations! It is expected with your DD's credentials. Is there any time limit to take/reject the offer (assuming your DD might be intested in SAs)?
So kind of you to say. She is a very hard worker and is very humbled by the opportunities awarded her.

Job well done! Congrats! Does she have some acceptances in hand or waiting on schools?
Forgive me for not thanking you for your kind words ! It has been a very exciting time. She is a very hard worker and we are so proud. There have been many times where things haven’t gone her way, so it’s wonderful to see her on the other side of that coin. She has a couple of acceptances but her main ones come in December. Fingers crossed!!

What are her top schools?? Congrats !! Very exciting ❤️
Her top 3 choices are MIT, Duke and Yale, but she is actually happy to go to any of the schools listed. She just feels truly honored to be awarded the scholarship! Good luck to your DD down the road!

My DS received a AFROTC type 7 and is awaiting the Navy ROTC board results which should be coming out shortly. How does the 4 year Type 7 to the 3 year type 2 conversion really work. We read through the manual last night and it is still puzzling. So to summarize:
- With 4 year Type 7 he gets tuition and fees up to a in-state school limit.. How is that maximum amount determined? State school tuition varies in Virginia by the school.
- If you shift to a Type 2 is up to $18 K that can go to either public or private for 3 years correct?
Appreciate anyone that can "break it down Barney style!"
Congratulations! My son won a type 7 last yr ( well really in March lol ) he is a freshman out oh state.
with a type 7 you can use it at any instate public school or at an out of state school that gives you i state tuition. Example we are Delaware residents but my son is at West Virginia University because hey give rotc instate rates ( and paid for his room )
If you decide to switch it to a type 2 you pay for the 1st yr of college and the scholarship kicks in sophomore yr but it can be used up to 18 K out of state

Upon clicking accepting afrotc scholarship offer, my DS mentioned that some State Code and Letter of Admission Info need to be filled/uploaded. Does that mean that one cannot accept the scholarship unless he/she has already been accepted to at least one college? But most applicants who apply for Fall 2021 enrollment won't get any letter of admission until at least a couple of months later.

That's my understanding as well. You are only able to accept the scholarship with a letter of admission in your hand, which could happen as soon as in December or most likely in March/April next year.

Congrats on your student's award!

That's correct. you have until next year to upload and confirm with the admissions letter. From our experience last year, it is very important to select the right state, college and MAJOR of studies. Initially, the system didnt show the approved major on the college that my DD was committing to. The solution was to contact with the specific detachment and they worked on the back end with ROTC HQ to very quickly add the additional approved major under the drop down menu so that we can complete the proper acceptance process.
