DS was awarded an AFROTC Type 2 scholarship. He'll be attending an in-state public university. The Type 2 scholarship will cover tuition costs up to $9k/semester. The Type 7 scholarship states it will cover 100% of tuition capped at in-state tuition rate. The 20/21 tuition was just approved by the university. While his freshman year tuition is covered fully by the Type 2 scholarship, the rate jumps to almost $11k/semester after that (different prices for lower and upper level students). I noticed several other state public universities are like that as well (Penn State, etc.). As I understand it, a Type 7 scholarship would continue to cover this increased in-state tuition rate, but the Type 2 is capped at $9k/semester. Is the Type 2 scholarship intended to be a lesser scholarship than the Type 7, or is this a glitch created by universities raising their tuition year after year?
