okay so i just found out i got a 4 year type 7 scholarship, no major restriction. but of the schools i applied to, only 1 technically qualifies for a type 7 because its under $9000. But say a school is $20,000 but the school gives you an $11,000 scholarship a year. the tuition is actually $9,000 so would i be able to activate a type 7 four year at that school? kind of a tought question but if anyone has any idea please help!

Hi we called Maxwell regarding same question and were told that you have to attend InState school w/tuition 9000...Scholarship offers are not accounted in equation at all... You can convert this to a type 2 3 year scholarship where you can go to any school and they will cover 15,000. for 3 years...Best answer will come from AFROTC call them, they are very helpful.

Contact the det and see if the university allows OOS college students get to be consider IS for ROTC purposes...somebody else here has already stated Okahoma will do that.

oklahoma does that? so if your from new york and get an ROTC scholarship you can become a resident of their state your freshman year? Do you know if Florida does that? I know they have that if your in the Air National Guard you are immediately a resident, maybe they do this too?

No answer about FL just call the det directly and ask...GOOD LUCK

Yes, Oklahoma (OU) DOES honor the 4-year Type 7 for OOS ROTC students. They don't classify you as a Resident, but if you take your scholarship there, they cap your OOS tuition at $8999. I'm a Nebraska resident and I just got my confirmation back from Maxwell with OU as my #1 selection. :thumb:

As Pima said, check with the detachment at the U you are interested in. Just make sure they have the major you are assigned to with your scholarship, unless you are a non-technical.
