My DD received email notification early this morning regarding an upgrade from her Type 7 scholarship converting to a Type 1. I'm gathering from the wording of the email that this was a general notification to existing scholarship recipients. Has anyone else received a similar notification? Quite surprised to hear this news, and given she is going out of state for her education prior to commissioning, this is as they say "an improvement to the situation". One thing I am cautious about is the definition of [acceptance] -- given my DD is a graduating high school senior who has been [offered] a Type 7 for her declared tech major, but as she has not yet raised her right hand and taken the oath into ROTC, and therefore she has not technically [accepted] her ROTC offer. At least that is my current understanding of the nuance, but I may not have that completely straight.

Separate from this, my DD was a c/o 2026 fully qualified candidate to USAFA and made it to the very end, ultimately receiving the TWE in late April. AFRTOC at her targeted universities was the active plan B the whole time along (thanks to much advice culled from here on SA Forums and from local sources) and we are thrilled she has these opportunities before her to commission and serve via the civilian college route.

Acceptance simply means that she notified AFROTC that she accepted her scholarship. There is no need to be sworn in to have accepted.

My daughter also received the same email. Her type 2 had already been converted to a type 1 due to the school she is attending, but I think this will be nice benefit to many others.

My DS received the same email. It is a great news! Just hope that it came in earlier. A lot of students already committed to a collage. I am sure this would have changed mind for some students.

Same here, awesome news, a very unexpected surprise. I was all set to go with my NROTC scholarship, but now it's AF for sure.

Aha, I wonder how Navy would feel about losing talents to AF like this :)

Agreed. Same situation for my DD, but we play the cards we're dealt. Great news regardless, and a privilege that others applicants may not have received.

Just to clarify, if they go from type 7 to type 1, they are going from the value of in-state tuition to 100% payment regardless of price? Nice deal.
