AFROTC vs Air National Guard

Does anyone have any thoughts about Air Guard instead of AFROTC?

To my knowledge Air National Guard can help pay for college, but college is kind of separate from the military aspect and you have military duties. AFROTC is a 4 year college and military training, then you either have more training or begin the real deal upon graduation. Depends on what you want to do.

If your state has available benefits, Air National Guard (AFNG) can pay for a free (or close to it) four year college education.

If you get the Air Force ROTC scholarship, it can pay for a free four year college education.

Similarities are getting a BA/BS with little-to-no debt.

Differences?

AFNG service is as an enlisted person. After graduation from 4 years of college you'd likely have 2 more years of obligated AFNG service left to do.

AFROTC would result in commissioning as an officer. After graduation you'd be an officer (nice!) with 6 more years (typically 4 active, 2 inactive reserve) of active duty service. Some AFROTC get reserve commissions but not many.
