Does anyone know if the plebes have leave between parents day and the beginning of class? I know they have town leave that weekend and I know they have brigade trials but what do they do for the rest of the time? Also is there a way to determine which congressman or senator got credited with my son's appointment? You would think the congressman or senator would post it but for some reason that was not done. Thanks!

I believe that there is no liberty other than probably town liberty on Saturday (and maybe Sunday afternoon). There are threads that discuss what happens during "reform."

In my day, we were at some point told the ultimate source of our appointment -- it was on some document. However, it really makes no difference. Your child is a midshipman. The source of his/her appointment is, at this point, utterly irrelevant.

Liberty

Town liberty for Plebes on parents weekend: Friday--noonish to 10 p.m., Saturday--10:30 a.m. to midnight, Sunday--8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Your DS's portal should indicate who provided the nomination.

There is no guarantee that your plebe will even have town liberty for the time between PPW and Brigade reform. Stuff happens. One person may do something really stupid, and all the plebes in that Company pay the price. That can mean the cancellation of liberty for all of them.

They really are quite busy during that timeframe. There are a lot of administrative matters to deal with. They need to buy the books for their classes, they might have to change their rooms from PS, and they must attend any number of briefings at the Company, Platoon, Regiment, and Brigade levels. Bottom line is that they will not have a lot of down time to relax prior to the start of the Ac year.

That is their transition time from Plebe Summer Regiment to academic year companies and routine. As soon as the rest of the Brigade comes back, they will be taking drinks from the end of the firehose in terms of prepping for ac year, all the stuff noted above, and gearing up for all that phenomenally fun stuff such as learning the upperclass' names, getting signatures, doing the infamous "boards" and other plebe chores.

The next time they will have leave is Thanksgiving. Town liberty, stay flexible. Yard liberty, ditto. They have fallen down the rabbit hole, and just stay loose until they are allowed to pop out of there.

You might want to consider visiting your Plebe over the Columbus Day weekend, October 6-7. That is the weekend after six week grades come out, so their academic responsibilities wil have peaked during exams the previous week. They are likely to have an increased amount of liberty, since it's a three day weekend without a home football game. Liberty is, of course, subject to limitation due to lots of thngs

Don't forget that your mid will have to stand watch, too! That can cut into any liberty they might have.

One of those limitations is academic status. Grades are due the Monday before the weekend, so it will be known whether MIDN are academically SAT/UNSAT. Something to consider if your plebe is struggling.
