Hi, my birth date is in December 16, 2004. I am currently a junior and I am 15 years old. Most people are 17 their junior year, and that’s when they start applying for the service academies. I am about to be 16 in December as an 11th grader, but the problem is that most applicants are 17 in their junior year which makes me a little young. I will be graduating high school at 17 years old. Should I apply my senior year? Thank you.

I guess you have to be at least 17 years old on July 1 of year when entering academy. Here is the link

My birthday is in September I'll be graduating @ the age of 17. From what I've seen it doesn't affect your chances.

All of my sources ask for my birthday but because I will be 17 before July 1st no one cares. The only person who might have an issue is if someone was turning 17 on July 1st but that person would have had to to skip a grade. I'll give you some advice that I learned from my dad who's air Force. If you know the rules forward and backwards and you follow them, you don't have to worry. Why? Because even if someone makes up some bull reason you know you made the right choice. ( This definitely does not apply when someone could get hurt or is in danger because the rules however if you choice to go against them for that reason you already are sure of your answer.)

My DD has a birthday in December, the 21st, and like you was 17 when she graduated and is now a senior at USAFA. Being one of the youngest in her class there has in no way hindered her, and if anything has given her a little more motivation. If memory serves we had to fill out an additional form to give her emancipated minor status which she handed in on I-Day.

I was born in October 2004, but I still plan to apply for the Class of 2026 January of my Junior year. I've seen many people turn 18 while they are already at the Academy. The minimum age to qualify for the Academy is to be 17 years old by July of the year you will enter (2022). You should be fine.

Also, this is totally random, but do you happen to be in Sea Cadets?

My son is at the Academy now and he is still 17 years old. He is one of the youngest that he has met so far in his class, but he's dealt with that his entire school career. Go for it!

I'm applying to USMA, but the age requirements for both are the same. I'm 17 currently going into my senior year and I will be graduating when I am 17. This said, start your application.
