Hello Everyone,

Thank you for all the forum supporters - these threads are very helpful.
My son is attending the AIM week 3 starting this Sunday. He is all excited!
Would like to know some details on PFE and in general.

Thank you, everyone, in advance for reading and responding

PFE
How strict are they with the push-ups. Even if one push up goes out of cadence will the stop the test?
Can the AIMester take breathing break for few secs during situps?
Is the 1.5mil run happens on 400m track or indoor track?
What time of the day does the PFE normally happen? Just to access how tiered AIMesters would be?
What is the good AIMester PFE Score?

General
What kind of swim activities would be there?
What kind of Engineering Workshop they do AIM?
What is the Indoctrination test on Day 5 - https://www.uscga.edu/what-to-expect/?

Cadence push-ups are cadence pushups. Usually, if you're off the cadence, it's pretty hard to get back on and not cheat a repetition. You can do whatever you want during situps. Rest as long as you want. Run will be on the indoor track.

My recommendation after talking to my son on this is for him not to be too concerned about any of this. His 3 tips for AIM are:

  1. Listen to the Cadre
  2. Listen to the Cadre
  3. Listen to the Cadre

My son really admired his Cadre and the start of friendship formed with some of them with the swapping on contact details.
The Cadre of a job to do and AIMsters need to understand that and they are doing it with the best of intentions.

The USCGA Flicker account has posted some photos of AIM Session 1 that will give you a preview. Enjoy!

Sure this gives a glimpse. Nice! Are they allowed to carry a camera? Do we get any pictures for our memories?
No phone, no camera. AIM is the most realistic of the summer seminar programs. Kids will get yelled at and IT'd and marched everywhere. As for photos, follow Pduddypics on facebook and hope he catches some good images. He does a great job.

Hope these answers to your questions and the tips are helpful
How strict are they with the push-ups. Even if one push up goes out of cadence will the stop the test? // Go until they say stop
Can the AIMester take breathing break for few secs during situps? // Yes. It's timed so do as many as you can, pause when necessary.
Is the 1.5mil run happens on 400m track or indoor track? // Indoors
What time of the day does the PFE normally happen? Just to access how tiered AIMesters would be? // Mid Morning
What is the good AIMester PFE Score? // Between 130 (the application minimum) - 300 (the maximum score)
What kind of swim activities would be there? // None. AIMsters may have the opportunity to sail, weather permitting
What kind of Engineering Workshop they do AIM? // There are 4 engineering challenges from decryption to electromagnetics to water purification. All were excellent.
What is the Indoctrination test on Day 5 - https://www.uscga.edu/what-to-expect/? // Indoc is the term used for memorizing information.

Tips for AIMsters:
- Get to know your fellow AIMsters, your Admissions Officer, and the Cadet Cadre. Talk to Cadets in your sport or major, or who share your interests.
- Hydrate for 2 days before arriving.
- AIM is realistic and challenging. Get tough. You can do this.

Tips for Parents:

- Attend the engineering brief on Friday morning. You'll see them march in as a platoon and hear their insights about the week.
- Excellent information is presented on Friday with the opportunity to ask questions. Be sure to bring your camera and a notepad.

Cameras are allowed by my son never had chance to take photos.
