This morning I got an Email from the Admissions Office. The Email said that instead of the AIM Application opening on 2/1 it will now be opening on 2/8. The reason given was that they need more time to make changes to the application system.

On another note, does anyone know how they normally release the decisions? All on the deadline or a slow trickle?

Thanks to all the people on this forum who have created such a deep well of information.

The schedule on the AIM page on the CGA website states that decisions are released on 5 May. There will be waitlisted applicants as well. There are participants that were offered a spot off the waitlist just a couple days before the start of a session.

For AIM, in the past the decisions are sent out all on the same day. Usually it is first come, first serve for signing up for your choice of weeks after decisions are announced. And as VAcadetmom said, some people who were originally given a sport in virtual AIM might be pulled to in-person later on if spots open up.

I was getting annoyed this morning that I couldn't open the application, and that their office hours are closed on weekends. Good to know this info, thanks!

My son attended AIM session 3 in 2023. He got an email that said there was an update in his Bears Den acct and that was where his acceptance letter was. There was a parent zoom meeting and then in a certain date, you filled out your first, second and third choices for AIM dates.

My son attended multiple summer programs and AIM was the most realistic to what Academy life is like. It solidified USCGA being his first choice.

Best of luck!

Applicant receives an email

Just got an email from USCGA that they're still working on the portal.

"Due to necessary changes to our application system, the AIM application beginning date is delayed. We will be sending another email when the application is back online. Thank you for your patience while we complete these updates."

To me, that sounds like "AIM applications are postponed indefinitely."

I saw the same thing. I hope it gets figured out soon but the deadline is not until the end of the month so there is still plenty of time.

My son was notified he got in and then had to choose which week. That happened quickly. They had a few zoom meetings with information on when people would be notified. There was also a waitlist list.
