My son just returned from AIM week 2 and was awarded the Honor Graduate Award. What bearing does this have on his admission?

In its own right, absolutely none. It probably means the cadre wrote a good evaluation of him, which could help.

The award your son received is equivalent to a letter of assurance. It should be stated in the documentation that he received with the award.

It will be attached to your sons application if he decides to apply to USCGA. It will serve him well in the application process.

Thank you for the input I will combine the two responses and hope for the best!!!!!
