Here's a funny story that you can appreciate. My DS was attending AIM a couple years ago..one of the
"Candidates" kept on addressing a upperclass Cadet (Company Commander) as "Captain". You could imagine the reaction by the 1C Cadets...this candidate apparently did it again the following day.
 
When DS was a Firstie he was voluntold to participate in hosting a small group of jrROTC high school cadets in a campus visit. When he asked the senior ranking cadet in his group if he could address him by his first name the cadet said he would prefer to be called 'sir'. DS politely to the cadet that he wasn't senior to anyone on the USCGA grounds.

DS later remarked that the cadet reminded him of a third world dictator with all his ribbons and aiguillettes.
