We are finishing packing up our son for AIM session one. On the packing list, it suggests money for souvenirs. For those who have attended before, can you give me an idea of what the typical prices are? Also, what type of items are typically purchased? He is a T-shirt junkie

He'll get plenty of T-shirts and shorts with the USCGA/AIM logo, so no worries there. :thumb:

The Exchange (and/or Bookstore) has other USCG and USCGA branded items (sweatshirts, hoodies, flags, key-chains, stickers, etc) that he may want, or he may be satisfied with all of the accessories he is given.

Give him a credit card if you think he may not bring enough.

Then again, think positively - you'll be back next summer with him

AIM packing question:

It says to bring athletics socks...does that mean high socks....or do they not really care if we wear low ones? I usually wear the ones which you can't even seen when wearing sneakers. Will these be okay?

sorry i know its really random....but thanks.

they really didnt say anything to us last yr but if they cant be seen then they might slide down and can cause blisters. You WILL be running alot so you need to be a cumfy as possible

PFE

Does anyone who attneded AIM last week know what the passing score is for the PFE. What was the time for the 1.5 mile run? How many sit ups and push ups in 60 seconds? Thanks. Trying to get fit and ready.

The PFE test is cumulative, there are no "minimums" for each event - the final test score is a combination of all 3 events.

A minimum score of 130 points is required for admission to the Academy.

The PFE will be administered during the first week of Swab Summer. Cadets who fail to score at least 130 points will be disenrolled. Cadets who fail to score 165 points at the end of Swab Summer will be placed on Fitness Probation and receive remedial physical training.

Cadets who fail to score 165 points by the end of their first semeseter will normally be disenrolled.

The PFE scoring table can be found here.
