Thanks, everyone! @USMAZoo98 , He just passed "day zero" today, and July 15 should be the end. @Bushrod it's definitely possible! :) He was in the first regiment for advanced camp, which ended last Wednesday. He went to 'holdover camp' at Ft. Knox until Saturday, when he flew to Newark. He's been waiting at West Point since then for air assault to start. Do you have a cadet doing something similar? If so, PM me if you want more info.
Hi, I just saw this. No, my cadet is a rising sophomore ( at VT also!) who is doing OPFOR at Advanced Camp this summer. Heard from him today that he got 7 "kills" in his lane, including the platoon leader and radio operator. The MS4s got yelled at for getting smoked by a MS2, lol.

My DS's favorite experience at Advanced Camp (a few years ago), was when he was assigned to lead a patrol find a missing shipment of MRE's that was supposed to be dropped off.

In the search, his group observed an OPFOR sitting outside a porta-potty, obviously standing security for his buddy inside.

DS set up a perfect assault, captured the OPFOR outside and then terrorized the poor guy inside in the porta-potty, all while interrogating them both on what they did with the missing MRE's. They left them tied up at the porta potty, confiscating their weapons and returning to their base. (turns out they had nothing to do with the MRE's).

It was amusing later to have the OPFOR officer show up at the MS-IV camp looking for the captured weapons of the OPFOR guys. He was none too pleased with his OPFOR cadets.

My son's mentee is doing this; I met him at graduation and took a picture of them together. So maybe it was your kid! But I know he's not the only OPFOR from VT there this summer. Advanced camp is really going to be a breeze for him!

I looked at the 1st Regiment list and my son's mentor isn't on there. I think there are 6 VT cadets doing OPFOR over the two OPFOR sessions.

Final score for yesterday. I think his favorite day so far. He does have the helicopter ride and gas chamber coming up soon, though!

13 kills
4 deaths
39 MSIII's day ruined

Update: my son graduated Friday. Ceremony was on the field at 11; insanely hot and mercifully short. Parked in Buffalo soldier lot and walked to/from (which is a long walk on a hot day; I was thankful to have my umbrella and dressed appropriately). I did a campus tour through West Point Tours the day before, so had my bearings somewhat. Any correct information I obtained from cobbling together what my cadet knew, and what @USMAZoo98 and @UHBlackhawk provided here. So, thank you for that. No one at West Point had complete or accurate information about the graduation; over the course of 2 days I asked multiple people (3 different visitor center front desk staff, the people downstairs processing my pass, the guard stationed at the entrance gate, etc.). They were all without exception cranky about it too; so I went out of my way to be respectful and empathetic. Everyone said some version of "organizations hold events here and tell us no details." There were tons of kids running around the campus in groups for various summer camps; I overheard other parents asking where they were supposed to pick up their children, etc., and receiving less help than I did. After the ceremony I was able to take pictures of my son with his buds and talk for a bit. There was a lot of confusion among the cadets about whether they could sign themselves out and have their parents take them to the airport. My son did not want to do this, so it wasn't a point of stress for us but it was for one of his buds. The issue here is that the ROTC kids were not given all the information that the West Point kids had; apparently the typical response to cadet questions to the black hats was "it's in your email." However these emails were only sent to West Point cadets (who aren't concerned with travel details because they live there). I had a really good time during my visit; the tour I took the day before was fantastic. For anyone else considering going to future graduations, if you have the luxury of being flexible, just hanging out and can deal patiently with chaos and ambiguity, go for it. But if you are on a tight schedule and need information that impacts travel arrangements in a timely manner, and cannot deal pleasantly with stressed out people, maybe give this event a pass.

Wondering if anyone has a cadet at West Point Air Assault School now and graduates this Thursday August 4? We are driving in from Ohio but have such little information to go by except we will be background checked at Visitor Center and ceremony starts at 11am? They know very little about the graduation when calling.

I just talked to someone at the Visitor Center. Got lucky - super helpful. She said, get there early. Go upstairs, they will give us a map and tell us where Air Assault graduation is!

I have a cadet that will be graduating tomorrow too. I'm unable to make it there in person. Are they going to Livestream it tomorrow? If so what time and where at on Social Media?
