Air Force or Army ROTC?

Hi everyone, I am currently a high school senior. Army ROTC is has always been my first choice, but I also have had thoughts of Air Force ROTC as well. I heard recently that all AFROTC cadets are guaranteed active duty slots upon commissioning, while active duty slots in AROTC aren't guaranteed. I have always wanted to serve on active duty no matter what, so should I consider doing AFROTC because of this?

It doesn't hurt to apply to both. That being said, if you work hard, get good grades, and show some leadership aptitude, you can generally get active duty in the Army (provided we aren't in a big draw-down). It's mostly your own success that determines the outcome.

The PMS I interviewed with told me that for AROTC, if you are a “good to great” cadet you will get active duty. It’s not guaranteed, but it’s up to you if you get it or not
