Hi All,

I've been doing some research on the USAF FC1 Refraction requirements for eyesight. My prescription is as follows

Right Eye: Sphere: -4.75 Cylinder: -1.00 Axis: 015
Left Eye: Sphere: -5.25 Cylinder: -1.00 Axis: 163

I’m trying to figure out if I will need to get LASIK or PRK in order to be a fighter pilot with my current prescription or is this prescription waiverable?

Thank you !!

USAFA Pilot certifications are NOT determined until your junior year. Prior to that, if you are a valid applicant for LASIK or PRK, they will evaluate and render that determination. If so, they will perform the surgery for you without cost. Unless "medically" indicated PRIOR to going to USAFA, it is not wise to have this surgery performed UNLESS "medically" indicated.

Vision doesn't "normally" stabilize until folks are 21. Correcting something that hasn't even stabilized yet, is not wise....UNLESS "medically"
indicated by your Ophthalmologist. :wiggle:
