Ok I'm new to this site and basically have a few questions. First I don't want to bore anyone with a five page description of myself. So basically I applied to usafa, usna, and usma back in the fall/winter(lets say I finished the applications in early november). I was medically dq'd for flat feet but got a waiver. I got a nomination to each sa(from senator and congresswoman). I just got usma appointment last weekend. Air force is my first choice however and thats where i REALLY want to go. I have a navy loa so Im' wondereing when i will get that appointment. but my main concern is usafa. my alo has told me that based on what he has seen i probably wont hear from usafa untill april or so but that i could get the appointment or just get the prep school. what does anyone think and could i hear from usafa earlier? thanks

With a USMA appointment and USNA LOA, I think your chances for USAFA are pretty good.

Sure, you could hear from USAFA pretty much anytime from now until I-day. Most appointments are given in March/April, so that would be a reasonable estimate...but it's ONLY an estimate.

As competative as you seem, I'd say you should expect to hear from USAFA in mid-March.

It does look like you are very competitive, however, you need to realize that the reason your appt may come in the mass mailing is b/c you do not have an LOA, which means you have to wait until your entire slate is given a WCS, and if someone doesn't complete theirs until Mar the AFA cannot give you an appt. It has nothing to do with you, everything to do with procedures.

Hold tight it will be worth the wait:thumb:

You were DQ'd for flat feet? I have that too, but the doctor said it was fine. What did your doc say about it? Do they ever affect performance?

they said i had flat feet too, and it affected my performance. which it doesn't. i had arch supports put in three years ago, now the problem is no more.

packermatt. Shhhhhh about your flat feet. What flat feet? Catch my drift? :p

I agree, we shouldn't talk about how we all have flat feet and were found to be...rather mild and unimportant?:shake:

I'm thankful mine don't prevent me from extensive physical strain.

ya i have never had any problems with my feet and i do three sports including xc so it was just a hassle waiting for the waiver but i have it now so oh well

I know this GUY with flat feet applying to the Academy. Does this medically DQ him from becoming a pilot?

I take it orthotics (arch supports) are not allowed at the academy? He doesn't need them at all, just a thing he is used to in his shoes.

I told this guy to just get his own SAF account, but he just doesn't listen...

you can have orthotics here. even in basic. bring them.

i SUPPOSEDLY had flat feet too, according to the terrible DoDMERB-contracted doctor i got. i told him he's nuts and i'd never been told that in my life and that it never affected me, ever. but a TON of people buy orthotics (or squishy pads to put in your boots/shoes) in basic.

Why isnt there like a smiley with angels singing and flowers blooming as a light descends from heaven?? cause I would definitely use it right now.

Are you gellin? cause I know I'LL be gellin'

Oh and can you use like ankle braces (of like the really basic ones you can wear underneath soccer cleats)? cause the last thing I want is to roll my ankle doing some stupid thing.

I would think that boots would provide ample support for your ankles.

Good to hear about the orthotics though.

ok, I dont know if I missed it somewhere, but are you allowed to put pads/insoles in the boots and stuff

just wondering because I do it for CAP when I know I will be on a mission or long march, and it helps A LOT!

You can put insoles in any of your shoes if you'd like here, even in BCT.
